Individual Counseling

While making the decision to seek counseling can be intimidating and overwhelming, psychotherapy will provide you with a safe and confidential space to openly explore and evaluate life’s challenges. While it is impossible to change difficult situations from the past, together we will engage in courageous conversations that will help you resolve emotional struggle, learn more constructive ways to deal with issues and changes, heal from trauma, promote self-confidence, and improve interpersonal relationships.

Child/adolescent therapy

play therapy: Creating a sense of play with purpose

Aligned with the way children naturally express themselves, play therapy is a way of being with the child that honors their unique developmental level and looks for ways of helping in the “language” of the child – play. With a safe and interactive environment to engage in self-exploration and self-expression, children develop self-confidence and positive self-image, learn to express feelings, make decisions, and cope with real-life situations. Therapist guided play can help your child process their feelings, develop tools to address difficulties, and overcome problems that inhibit normal development.

teen counseling

While adolescence can be an exciting time of growth and discovery, for many this can be a time of emotional turmoil, social stress, and difficult changes. Not only are teens facing new situations and choices for the first time, but they are also discovering who they are as a person. Developing a relationship with a counselor during this stage of life can provide teens with an opportunity to express and process their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. While your concerns as a parent are always kept in mind, it is important for adolescents to feel their sessions address their concerns and challenges in order for therapy to be beneficial.

Parent-Child Relationship Therapy

The power of play can also be used to help strengthen the parent-child relationship while enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. Sessions replicate the natural and healthy interaction between parents and children using an approach that is fun, physical, personal, and interactive. These sessions help to create an active and emotional connection between the parent and child, resulting in a changed view of the self as worthy and lovable and relationships that are both positive and rewarding.
